Subject: Resolution to Restore the Constitution
Dear name of representative,
I am your constituent, and I’m writing to urge you to introduce and support the Resolution to Restore the Constitution in the name of legislature.
The United States is in the midst of an authoritarian takeover. The federal executive has abandoned constitutional governance—refusing to execute the laws of Congress, violating fundamental rights like due process and freedom of the press, politicizing federal agencies to target opponents, and dismantling the institutions people depend on. Congress and the courts are unwilling or unable to stop it.
The people of place (state, city, etc.) are already being harmed—by misallocated federal funds, degraded emergency services, and the denial of basic rights.
With a lawless executive operating in opposition to the constitutional order, it now falls to state and local governments to protect their communities. The Resolution does not bind the name of legislature to any specific next steps. It establishes the legal and moral foundation for action and affirms your commitment to respond as necessary to protect your constituents and restore the operation of the Constitution.
A model version of the Resolution is available at
https://democratism.org/catalog-action-231A Legislative Toolkit outlining potential follow-up actions is available at
https://democratism.org/catalog-legislative-actions.htmlI hope you will lead in defending the rule of law and protecting the people of place (state, city, etc.).
Respectfully,
your name
Select, copy, paste into your email. Don't forget to fill in the blanks for the names of the legislator, the legislature, the state or locality, and you!
If you’re writing to a mayor, governor, or other executive official, change “introduce and support” to “endorse” or “support the adoption of.”
Edit it however else sounds right to you!
